O-ring

O-rings, also known as O-rings, are a common type of rubber gasket used in a variety of applications to prevent liquids or gases from escaping a joint or to prevent liquids or gases from entering a joint. O-rings are typically made from rubber or other synthetic rubbers. They are circular in shape, with a space in the middle to accommodate a joint or pipe.

Distinguishing types of O-ring gaskets:

  1. Nitrile rubber (NBR) O-rings: NBR gaskets are suitable for many common applications. They have good elasticity and are resistant to oil, gasoline, lubricants and other oil-based fluids.
  2. Fluorocarbon Rubber (Viton) O-rings: Viton gaskets have good heat and chemical resistance. They are suitable for applications requiring fire resistance, mineral oil resistance and aggressive chemicals.
  3. Silicone O-rings (VMQ): Silicone gaskets have a wide temperature range and provide electrical insulation. They are commonly used in applications requiring high temperature resistance and in food or medical environments.
  4. EPDM Rubber O-rings: EPDM gaskets have a wide temperature range, are resistant to oxidation and have good weather resistance. They are commonly used in outdoor applications and hot water and steam applications.

Characteristic:

  • High heat resistance: Up to 200 – 250°C

  • Outstanding chemical resistance: Not corroded by oil, gasoline, solvents, mild acids, hot gases...

  • Long life: Less aging, maintains good tightness for a long time

  • Wide application: Used in chemical pumps, pneumatic systems, pump seals, hydraulic cylinders
